With Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the latest installment of the mega-popular Assassin’s Creed franchise, Ubisoft redeemed themselves in the eyes of gamers and critics alike for the disappointment that many felt with Assassin’s Creed III. As such, Freedom Cry, the first piece of singleplayer DLC for Black Flag, had a lot to live up to. You assume the role of Adéwalé, the Jackdaw’s former quartermaster, 15 years after the events of Black Flag. Now working for the Assassins Adéwalé finds himself washed ashore and into an ongoing struggle for independence. Intriguing concept, but does Adéwalé’s quest for liberation deliver the same thrills as Kenway’s high seas adventure?
